Premium Support and Companionship.

Ageing - celebrated, not tolerated.

Personal Assistance is a boutique companionship service, offering tailored solutions that help the aged maintain their ‘joie de vivre’. All our services are bespoke, with each individual's most pressing needs front of mind. We make it possible for the aged to thrive at home, safe and happy. Who wouldn’t want a PA?

How does it work?

As an owner operated business, we work with clients and their families to make sure their unique requirements are understood and delivered to.

We have a hand-selected pool of PA’s to make sure we find the perfect match for our clients needs. We understand that each client is individual and tailor our services accordingly.

Our skills.

Our carers come from a range of backgrounds with different skills and areas of expertise. This means we have a carer for whatever your needs may be; from companionship through to palliative care.

  • We have a number of carers who focus on companionship. Depending on your requirements, our carers can help with day-to-day tasks such as out of the house activities, light house-keeping, driving clients to appointments - just to name a few.

  • We have a number of carers who are experienced in personal care - everything from showering, dressing, toileting to light medical care. As well as this, a number of our carers specialise in supporting and caring for clients with dementia.

  • We have a small team of registered nurses and experienced carers whose expertise is in end of life care. Marge Murphy is our lead palliative carer who specialises in this area.

Meet the directors.

Personal Assistance was founded by Brigid Chunn and Jackie McDiarmid. Both hailing from large extended families, they’ve had experience caring for the aged and both know the importance of compassion, respect and discretion.

  • Brigid has worked in a variety of roles in the health and wellness sector. For the past 15 years, she has been consulting in a private practice, providing one-on-one nutritional advice. Her work has a strong emphasis on lifestyle changes, weight loss, type 2 diabetes, the Mediterranean diet and ageing.

Brigid comes from a large extended family, and she was part of helping her mother-in-law as she aged which she found a joy. More recently, she has helped neighbours and friends as needed, from those convalescing to those who needed extra support during Covid-19. During this time, she realised how much the aged and disabled have to offer, and is something she feels passionate about.

    Qualifications:

    • NZ registered nutritionist

    • Bachelor of Science with a post graduate diploma in Human Nutrition

    • Qualified Yoga teacher (level 1)

  • Jackie has worked through most of her career in roles focused on people, relationships, care and support.

She is a gifted and vibrant connector, and this combined with considerable experience managing people and activities has shaped her into a standout carer.

Jackie comes from a wonderful close-knit extended family. She was actively involved in the care of both her parents in their final years and through that experience discovered a passion for working with those requiring support and companionship.

Her significant experience is complimented with First Aid training.
